Due to the evolution of digital technology, data and algorithms, the healthcare sector transformed a lot and most of the hospitals are using the latest digital technologies such as Telehealth and EHR systems (Digital Electronic healthcare records). Electronic health record system (EHR) can help streamline your practice workflow and reduce the staff time required for a number of common tasks. Processing patients more quickly mean that not only will team members get a lift in morale, patients will be pleased too since they will spend less time waiting for service.

But a lot of these EHR systems which exists today are not going beyond Administrative/ Financial & Insurance applications due to various issues.

Here are 3 Key   important aspects every EHR should have which helps to provide clinical insights along with Administrative and revenue cycle management.

1)  Architecture should Separate the content (data) from the tool – Today lot of EHR tools are producing the data with tool-related information and it becomes really difficult to separate the clinical data from it. The ideal system should be able to separate the clinical content from the tool easily. By doing this we can easily automate the process and the data can be easily scalable.

2) Design: The design should be very simple and easy to use.  As most healthcare professionals use these EHR’s the design should not conflict with the process of consultation. Efficient, clear communication between patients and providers is a cornerstone for any EHR software.

3) Standardization/Interoperability: The Ideal EHR should have standardization of data, through which it has interoperability within and between hospitals. When it comes to within hospitals there won’t be a need to enter the same information multiple times, which helps to get rid of data entry errors as well as data leakage. Across hospitals, collaborations help to get more insights and publications.

With these 3 aspects, the EHR are destined to go beyond administrative/ Revenue cycles and augment the doctors at the point of care. This helps patients to get quality care as well as digital health record with coded clinical data which helps them to access and retrieve data at any point in time.

We at Medeva have taken care to implement all this in our platform.
